About Me
We learn every step of the way.
Each step we take in life brings us new joys, obstacles, and learning experiences. If we stagnate and stay in one place, we will never grow as people. As a future educator, I look forward to new challenges, making connections with students and colleagues, and continuing to nurture the tree that is my collective identity, spirit, and knowledge.
Hi! I’m Morgan Traynor. I completed my elementary education in Grand Forks BC and Golden BC, and my secondary education in Whitehorse, YT. So, I’ve been around. While my subject is music, my other passions are writing and, more recently, sewing. Before I specialized in operatic performance, I played many instruments throughout my undergraduate degree and high school. I love creative activities and learning new things.
I completed my BMus at Mount Allison in Sackville NB in 2012, my MMus at Western (UWO) in London ON in 2016, and had a two year contract with Calgary Opera as one of their Emerging Artists from 2016-2018 in Calgary AB. I switched gears from the competitive industry of singing opera and returned to my ongoing passion of teaching in 2019. This eventually led me to pursue the honourable career of an educator, over ten years after my high school band teacher said I should. Life is a winding path for sure.
I am excited to bring my background and experience to my new role as Teacher Candidate with UNBC, and I look forward to growing roots and making connections in the community.
